Session(s) - The Seven Pillars of Clean Writing

The Seven Pillars of Clean Writing: How to Take Your Manuscript from Good to Great

No gatekeeping here! In this workshop, editors and writing coaches Deb Hall and Karen Bouchard reveal the exact steps they take to transform manuscripts from good to great.

The ability to create good clean writing that readers love isn’t something you’re “born with.” Whether you write fiction or nonfiction, are a beginning or seasoned writer, this workshop will teach you actionable steps you can take that will make a powerful difference in your manuscript.

Discover what clean writing is and what it is not, why it's so important, and how to achieve it on both the macro (content editing) level and the micro (copyediting/proofreading) level.

You’ll also learn how to:

· Recognize when you’ve got the right content in the wrong order

· Spot red flags pointing to problem areas in your manuscript

· Fix subtle mistakes even seasoned writers make

· Use AI to improve your writing without giving your work that telltale “AI voice”

· Choose the right kind of editor for what you need

· Have better control over the experience of your reader

Once you “see” how to spot and fix the messy parts of your manuscript, you won’t be able to unsee it. And as these clean writing techniques become second nature—and they can—you’ll find yourself better equipped than ever to encourage, inspire, and delight your reader.
